Nodaway Valley West Elementary - Grades 4 & 5
Students in grades four and five attend classes in Bridgewater. This building features an open classroom layout with a multipurpose room in the center and a large technology lab used to integrate technology into classroom instruction. A variety of playground equipment, including a hard surface area for play in inclement weather is also a nice feature of this facility.
The staff facilitates the students' instruction at these two grade levels through opportunities that prepare them for middle school. Students are actively involved in project-based learning. In fourth grade, students study Iowa history. Students participate in the on-line Following the Leaders application to increase achievement in mathematics. This on-line application is available at school and for at-home use.
Each quarter, students are recognized for good attendance and good lunchroom behavior. The highlight of the quarterly recognition is the Principal's Award, which acknowledges students for outstanding citizenship and leadership.
